Kick-Ass: My reasons why this film is fucking awesome!
An essay on why Kick-Ass had become my favourite movie together with the reasons why I think this movie is terrific. NB Please note this essay was written in 2011, so a couple of the comments may now be out of date.
1. Development.
Kick-Ass is based on a creator owned miniseries of 8 comics written by Scottish comic book writer Mark Millar and illustrated by New York comic book artist John Romita Jr. The comics were published from 2008-2010 and were collated as a graphic novel in 2010. In 2007, Mark Millar pitched his unpublished partially written Kick-Ass comic book script to film director and producer Matthew Vaughn at his Stardust film premier party. Intrigued and looking for his next film project, Matthew Vaughn and his scriptwriter Jane Goldman produced a structured film script.
